God Begot House
After doing some cleaning and gardening I’ve walked into town to get my hair cut. Continuing the new me theme it’s now even shorter.
I like history so I’m slowly researching the buildings in Winchester. This is God Begot House. Its name has nothing to do with God instead it’s comes from the Saxon “god begeaton” meaning “good bargain”. This house and the others that were on the site could be rented.
On the right of the image is the 18th century clock on the building that was the Guildhall before they built a larger one at the bottom of the High Street. It’s now a bank.
