Decking Upgrade

We’ve decided to replace our timber decking with composite boards. Still in the planning stage, I was testing how easy it was to lift the current boards I put down some 15+ years ago. They were fixed with screws, but these have proved difficult to unscrew! Various trials, including trying lost head extractors have met with limited success.

Luckily I have a very handy neighbour, who has an engineering background, who came over to take a look. In the end he came up with a less engineered solution, simply lifting the boards with a crowbar. A few test proved the concept, so once the material is ordered I’ll be starting the project.
