Murals at the hospital…
These lovely murals on many of the corridor walls were created by staff members. Art sessions were held for them and they have made a lovely addition to the walls. They must be so proud as they pass their particular contribution.
I had a very reassuring pre-admission appointment with the nurse. In particular she said she will check on the day after the op whether the physios are sure I will be able to cope with my steep stairs without straining my stomach. If necessary she’ll recommend I stay in for another day or two. That’s reassuring.
So now I just have to hope there’s a bed available!
Oh and hope that my knees have recovered from today’s marathon walking. The hospital isn’t big by mainland standards but to my knees it feels giant. I got the bus to the Vauquiedor entrance which is (theoretically) the furthest away from where I needed to be. Theoretically because building works mean you get sent on a walk around the grounds if you head for what is normally the closest entrance. On my way out I returned the way I came in then realised it was a long way from the way out of the hospital grounds I wanted to take and the diversion around the hospital grounds would have been the better route. The route I chose to go home was not quite the shortest (though it didn’t have steep bits like the other options). My knees were complaining seriously when I got almost home but they were sympathetic when I explained that I’d come this way so I could grab an iced latte!!
