Birds of Prey...

This is not straight out of the camera. The sky is replaced.

We were in the garden when the local Spitfire "Grey Nurse" came roaring over the village... sound like no other machine in the world. A rattling roar that is so full of bass tones it hits you in the chest...

My mum calls it the sound of safety, but then she spent the war in Ipswich, often under the kitchen table. She said when she heard the sound of the Merlin engine she knew she was going to be alright.

Anyhow, I knew it would be back, but when it did it flew past a huge white cloud which my camera settings blew out, so I've montaged the shot against a sky that best fits the plane's livery.

A bonus, when I came to process the shot, was to see the buzzard flying high over the Spitfire... two birds of prey; happily only one out hunting, and one having the time of its life!
