Henry’s castle?

I like working from Ryde on Fridays. It's quiet at work, and as soon as I am finished, I can be out by the sea. Today was slightly different, as we decided we needed to pick up some more paint to complete the decorating. We're using a B&Q brand, and we decided that rather than waste time over the weekend, we would get a bus to Newport, then walk to B&Q and get a bus back in the evening. Perhaps not the most exciting Friday evening, but it made sense. We were back in the flat by 8:30 pm, and we'd even managed to squeeze in a quick detour to Newport Sainsbury's.

On the walk back, I snapped a quick picture of the Ryde Castle Hotel. It's a lovely building and looks like a castle. The venue's website says it was originally "built by Henry VIII to defend against Spanish invasion," but it seems too new to my eyes. I looked it up. Somebody from the Historic Ryde Society is quoted as saying, "I'm not sure where that's coming from. The only thing there before 1833 was sand!" At that time, building began on a private house.

Regardless, I like the look of it, and in the summer, the beer garden is nice.
