Grumpy Old Man

Another cracking day!

Today was bright and sunny from start to finish, with a gentle breeze and a blue sky. The three of us drove down to the Isle of Seil, then took the road down to Cuan Sound for the ferry crossing to Luing, another of the Slate Islands in this area.

To begin with we turned south to Toberonochy, where we had a wander around - today's Blip is of the very photogenic 'Crystal Waters', a poor old former Banff registered trawler (BF 209), which leans against the harbour wall. She was decommissioned under the Fishing Vessels (Decommissioning) (Scotland) Scheme 2003 and  sadly, she has seen better days. Her picture turns up on many Members' shows at the Photo Club.

From there we drove back up to the top end of the island and into the village of Cullipool. We had lunch at the lovely café attached to the Atlantic Islands Centre. It was lovely to hear the two ladies singing happily in the kitchen with a rendering of  Dolly Parton's 'Jolene'!

After lunch it was back to the ferry and across Seil and down to Kilmelford, where Mrs M was to attend a memorial service for a friend in the church. Still the sun shone, and on arriving home we sat out on the deck with a Pimm's each until the sun went behind the trees. A beautiful day - we haven't had so much sun for a long time!

Quote of the Day: 'Keep your face always toward the sunshine - and shadows will fall behind you.' - Walt Whitman.
