Simca car, classic car, patina,
Those who know my appreciation of historic and classic cars will not be surprised that I had to stop and photograph this lovely old Simca car.
Seen on Morrison's car park in Newtown today.
The owner returned and was a charming and friendly chap who happily talked me through his ownership (10 years) and history of the car.
It is a 1961 Simca saloon with a 1275 engine, and is almost entirely original, apart from a few sympathetic modifications such as an electric cooling fan and uprated distributor cap.
He stated he has been to Europe several times and travels in the UK extensively with very few reliability issues.
A very happy encounter and a great start to our weekend in Wales. Our caravan site closes at the end of October so we feel the urge to get as much time in as we can before the end of the season.
We watched the cricket highlights this evening and the result is a foregone conclusion I suspect.
I hope you all have a great weekend!
