Montalba
Another coolish day, so we headed up into the mountains for a walk. We went up to Montalba, which is a tiny hamlet with little to recommend it, save that it falls at a point where the GR10 (long distance footpath along the Pyrenees) touches a road.
We had a nice stroll for a few hours along the footpath, then back for a picnic lunch (saucisson sec and bread, hunter style) and home. This is a view back from the path to Montalba. On a bright day the mountains would have been spectacular against a blue sky, but on that kind of day we could probably only have managed a 10 minute walk in the heat!
Back at home I decided to do my share of table duties, and sanded down our outside dinner table. Turned out to be a bigger job than I'd anticipated, but I managed to get it finished before dinner and safely under a hap to keep dry overnight.
Friends are coming tomorrow for a weekend in 'sunny' France. Yet again I have been assured that the good weather is coming...
