View from the ridge
It was a fairly calm night on the summit, no rain and no ruminants, just the odd breeze to flap the flysheet. After packing up, I dropped steeply off the ridge down into the shadowy head of Gleann Camgharraidh, waking up a herd of 100 red deer who scarpered north. Refilled my water at a stream and then climbed west onto the north ridge of Streap Comlaidh above.
I then followed the ridge south for the next four hours, stopping at every high-point to wonder at the view. I met or saw not a soul.
My final peak was the demoted Corbett of Beinn an Tuam which has a pretty spectacular view south-west over Glenfinnan and Loch Shiel. I prolonged the descent as long as possible - the glinting car windscreens in the car park far below told me everything I needed to know.
Emerging from the forestry at the hillfoot, I was suddenly immersed into tourist hell. Bagpipes, litter, screaming kids, Harry Potter looky-likeys, barriers, litter, full bins.
