The new wheelchair accessible walkway through the dunes to a view of the seal haul-out site was officially opened a couple of days ago.
The work involved making a cut through the sand dunes and this has now been planted with Marram Grass to stabilise the sand.
The small blackened rock (one of many in the area) is evidence that the area was used in the distant past for cooking mussels and other shellfish. A similar site along the estuary was excavated a few years ago and was carbon dated to Pictish times.
