Water lily water

This is a water lily flower in the pond in my Mum's garden. 
This evening we attended a meeting of her old book club. The members are all neighbours who we know well, so it was lovely to see them again. The book we discussed was The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek by Kim Michele Richardson. It's about the packhorse book project set up in the mountains of Kentucky in the 1930s, part of Roosevelt's New Deal, but also about the Fugate community there who had a rare inherited condition causing them to have  blue blood. Although it's a novel it's based on real events. We had all  enjoyed reading the book and it initiated  very good discussion amongst us.
