Quod oculus meus videt

The Last Drop

Had a lovely day, catching up with my walking buddy.  We rarely walk during the summer months, as we much prefer the cooler conditions of autumn, winter and spring.  We had a light lunch in a converted Midland Bank called the Bear in Stone after taking a very indirect route from his house.

I wanted to get back to Penkridge as there was a trial run of the steam locomotive, Blue Peter due to come through the station just before 3 pm.  Sadly, while checking the schedule on a website called Real Time Trains, there was a notification that the trip had been cancelled.

I was near to the stables where L was riding so I popped over to see one of the older horses she used to ride, Meg. Meg is always pleased to see me, particularly if I have some of her favourite treats.  She will nuzzle my pockets until I present the sweet.  It's amazing how dextrous her lips are collecting the sweet out of my fingers without even a hint of her (very large) teeth just behind.

We got back to lovely sunshine and there was just a small amount on the top patio to enjoy.  We poured out a couple of G&Ts, which sadly has now depleted the rhubarb gin we discovered at a small distillery near Warwick, three years ago.  The company went out of business last year and while we were able to buy a couple of bottles from remaining stock, this was the last drop.
