Sea potato
Rather a rainy start to the day, so we all had a very relaxed morning - with another fun card game (Cabanga) before we headed out for lunch in Braunton. Finally got to sample the much-praised fish and chips at Squires - and it more than lived up to its reputation. We left stuffed and happy, and drove down to Saunton Sands for a post-prandial walk on the beach. There were a lot of these 'sea potatoes' (or echinocardium cordatum - aka heart urchins) dotted around, as well as other interesting bits and pieces. Some mega driftwood, too.
It had got surprisingly sunny and hot by this point, so we retreated into a cafe for some shade and refreshment. After that, we drove Martin, Sarah and Effie to Barnstaple to catch their train back to Bristol, and came home for a very relaxed evening.
