I was going .............
......... to drive up onto the moor to snap some granite for today's Tiny Tuesday challenge 'Mineral/Crystal' suggested by McCaviti but time did'nt allow so what to snap. Aha!!! I have a stash of roughly cut moonstones in the cupboard, exchanged for a Polaroid Land camera film in Sri Lanka, back in the early 80's. On my return I had some designs made by Ann Powell, a local silversmith whose work I loved, but that is as far as I got. I have about 70 stones, and 5 designs - a pair of earrings, 2 pendants, & 2 brooches. I love the design for this brooch, but who wears a brooch these days apart from the Queen, and so they remain in the box. I might do a jewellery course in Chudleigh, as there is a studio. That would be cool!
Moonstone is a sodium potassium aluminium silicate of the feldspar group apparently.
