Cherry blossom in Adelaide
On the edge of the Adelaide CBD is a small traditional Japanese Garden, a place for quiet contemplation on the fringes of the city. It’s been there for almost 40 years but, although I’ve come to Adelaide often during that time, this was my first visit. The interpretive brochure says that the garden blends two classic styles - the first is the ‘senzui’ (lake and mountain garden) and the second is the ‘kare senzui’ (dry raked sand garden, traditionally used for contemplation by Zen Buddhist monks).
