A Day on the Ocean Waves

Over the sea to Hoy we went today, EllyJay, Neil and I on the Nordic Sea. It’s a boat that looks like a chunky toy for a child and whose chugging engine you can hear for miles. It is well appointed with comfortable seats should you wish to sit inside. We opted for the open stern on the way to Lyness but chose inside to escape the wet haar on the way back.
We were on our way to visit the Lyness maritime museum which houses the history and artifacts relating to the history of Scapa Flow during WW1 and WW11.
I found the items salvaged from the sunken British ships and the scuttled German ships fascinating. The whole museum was well set out… and joy to end all joys, there was a bright café which gave us lunch and küchen.

We had a misty walk along the road before the chug chug of the boat alerted us to its arrival for the return journey
A grand day out even though the weather didn’t play ball.
