Progression

Drawing

I added a background, which I should’ve done first, to my picture from yesterday. I also added some shading. The coloured pencils I used come in lots of different colours, but they’re annoyingly faint.

The pencils are supposed to be for children; I can see a lot of frustrated children ripping through the page as they try to get some colour onto it. Such a shame.

Anyway, what I want is to add a clear colour over the top to give the illusion of swirling mists around the figures. Tricky without using an iPad, as I did with the originals, or paint. Maybe I’ll have a look in the art shop in Ely and see what they have that I could use.

Running

I went for a run from my training plan today. I put it off as long as I possibly could because I wasn’t looking forward to it: intervals, but longer than last week’s. I almost didn’t go at all, but I’m glad I did.

Excitement

The police reported on Facebook a collision involving five vehicles on the road out of the village this afternoon. Five?!

That road can get busy, and there’s a blind summit as it rises to meet the bridge coming out of the village. The limit is 40 mph, but a lot of drivers ignore it – it’s 60 mph before and after.

But still – five vehicles?!

Writing

This evening, it was our September Ely Writers meeting. It was good fun.

We talked about naming characters; I’d been worried there wouldn’t be much to say, but there was loads to say, especially as I’d got another writing friend to send a photo of some advice about naming characters from a book she’d shown me last time we met.
