Sunrise over the Avon-Heathcote Estuary
It looked like a promising sky for a colourful sunrise this morning, so as we had appointments for hair cuts in Sumner at 9.00 am, we decided to go for a walk on the beach first. We were running a bit late for the sunrise, and then half way down Monks Spur Road, we found it blocked by road works. So going all the way around, the sun was close to up by the time we reached the estuary.
I took a few shots here, including this one. I miss my standard zoom which is away getting fixed. In the meantime I'm restricted to 100 mm macro and the wide angle. I think it's good for me, though.... I have to think a bit more to make the best of what I have. I may not have thought of trying this vertical with my (effective) 24-120 lens.
I took a few more shots from Sumner beach, as the sun came up and retreated behind the thick cloud bank. There was much more cloud than I'd expected this morning. But then every morning is different!
