Datura Stramonium

Here found growing (Wild?) in the entrance to a field of maize grown for cattle fodder. Surely, not planted on purpose?

Datura is a very poisonous plant, all parts of it contain a cocktail of tropane alkaloids: Atropine, Hyoscyamine and Scopolamine, to name but three. These compounds are extremely active and cause delirium and hallucination as well as many unwanted effects on various bits of the body.

So why is it growing here? Possibly from seeds spread by birds in their droppings? It's a mystery. It's a mystery why you'd grow it in your garden in the first place.
