New in the neighbourhood

I love those new colourful houses that have just recently been built near my home (a white laundry-building was there before). They have the same look as most of the old houses in my neighbourhood and will blend in very nicely. Also very refreshing and uplifting to see some colours in a town where likely 98% of all house owners now choose grey/black/dark brown when buying paint or cladding for their property.
In my opinion, Akureyri has actually started to look a bit drab and depressing in recent years.
Funny how people here in Iceland talk about the joy of travelling to places where colour and culture brings joy to the daily life of everyone, but somehow can't make it happen at home...
