One heckuffa bang
Atlantic air meets super warm air. Even eventually over us. With one heckuffa bang; a strike half a kilometre away strong enough to trip the power off. 12mm of lovely fresh water and temps down to 17C by nightfall. Made fig, apple and onion chutney, a ragu and willed the rain to part to let J home safely over the pass. (It did but not by my will.)
Glad that bang was in full daylight. Would’ve been something else in the inky, bed quaking, dark.
Need to finally start lifting all those potatoes now the super heat looks passed. (That’s gonna come round like a frisbee in a rising gale and clunk me in the head, no doubt.)
Next week looking good for last minute breaks - mid/low 20s, broken sun, little or no rain after torrential forecast for Sunday night/monday.
