Wonderment

"I know, I'll work in town on Friday, and at lunchtime I'll go to Calton Hill and take a photo of 'that' view that every postcard of Edinburgh has!"

And here you are: you may I'm sure in awe gaze upon the architectural magnificence of the east end of the New Town, the dense protoskyscraperyness of the Old Town as it runs up the hill towards the Castle, the robust clock tower of the NB, the faraway spires of St Mary's Cathedral, and to the horizon, the Pentland Hills.

Turned out that thanks to torrential haar covering half the country, all you can see is the Grecian-styled monument to Dugald Stewart, and very faintly, the yellow ochre gable end of Rock House, where calotype photography was invented. Still, I thought it made for quite a nice bookend, what with my very first blip a year ago today being a lovely sunset.

Thank you to everyone who has stuck with me for an entire year!
