Firebush

We have a Firebush filled with lots of orange & red flowers in our front yard. For Flower Friday I took a photo a Carpenter Bee having a drink of their nectar. Steve & I call this the "Bee bush" because the buzzing can be quite audible when walking by. It successfully attracts pollinators with its long flowers filled with nectar... and the insects are so busy they are not interested in us at all, as we quietly pass by.

There are so many different kinds of wasps and bees, in all sizes and colors, as well as butterflies and dragonflies that visit these flowers. Today I saw an Eastern Amberwing Dragonfly, a Paper Wasp and a beautiful metallic turquoise Cuckoo Wasp, wow! This bush grows very well in Florida, because of it's tolerance of heat, sun and drought. I read that this is why it's called Firebush.

Many thanks to BikerBear for hosting Flower Friday!
