When I'm Cleaning Windows
Today was one of those gloriously sunny September days with temperatures comfortably in the mid-20s. Perfect for some outdoor cleaning therapy!
I spent the morning power-washing the balcony, front steps, and driveway, then took on the long overdue house windows and finally gave the car a well-deserved wash.
The house windows got the royal treatment: a 60+ year-old Betterware brush paired with a new Karcher window vacuum.
This afternoon I nipped down to the bowls club for a practice and afterwards a mini-shop at Sainsbury's.
Seeing that brush reminded me of the Betterware salesman’s monthly visits when I was little. He'd turn up in a suit and tie with his suitcase of cleaning wonders, a treasure trove of brushes, dusters, and all things practical including "free gifts". Mum would always buy something (she could never resist), and for bigger items like long-handled brushes, he'd return a week or so later with the goods.
Back then, we were spoiled by door-to-door service: the grocer on Mondays, butcher on Tuesdays, greengrocer on Thursdays, and the weekly Corona pop wagon that was responsible for my dental decline.
At 6:00 pm, the sun's still shining and the temperature holding steady at 23ºC.
