Galway Harbour

Some local musicians came on board yesterday evening to entertain us with traditional Irish jigs, reels and ballads - they were great! The singer told us that this is the first real summer that they have had in Galway for 25 years. Even allowing for Irish hyperbole, we thank our lucky stars that the warm sunshine continues.

There is a big festival in Galway at this time of year, and the town is teeming with performers and visiters. We explored the narrow, old streets, watched fishermen trying to catch salmon in the River Corrib, and finally had a Guinness in a crowded harbour-side pub - very welcome after sight-seeing in this heat!
