Nothing happens here...

Time out!

I had some spare time in the office this afternoon.  I'd been recommended by my carer to tidy the place up but I became sidetracked whilst moving some models around.  Today's Blip shows two types of Dinky Toy model buses in my collection.  These are AEC Regent types of which I have a leaning towards.  They were always scarce but as us old codgers start falling off our perches more are becoming available.  I suppose you could say I've only really rented them for a few years - perish the thought.

The bus on the left is a post-war model 29c built between 1946-48 although there was a very similar pre-war 1938-40 version but only the base gives the year away.  The first version is denoted mainly by the crude radiator.

In 1949 a new chassis (toy number 290)  with a realistic radiator was built for the first style body. There were variations, such as bigger top deck front windows, removed roof boxes and embossed base lettering I think because of the way the original dies wore out.  The AEC models stopped being produced around 1959.
