Small Tortoiseshell

A visit to Dumfries House gardens today. It was really too hot for me so I was pleased to be home by the early afternoon.

We saw more butterflies than I have seen anywhere else this summer. Nothing unusual just the three common varieties .... Red Admirals, Small Tortoiseshell and the most abundant were the Peacocks.

The Buddleia and Yellow Oxeye Daisies are practically finished flowering but the Sedum is still looking great and that's where the butterflies were gathering.
