Duke of Wellington (with cone)
A nice night's sleep in the hotel. I prefer a continental breakfast. Views out of the window weren't that great though. At least we don't have to check out until 12. So another wee wander around Glasgow city centre. The main blip shows the Equestrian statue of the Duke of Wellington in Queen Street outside of the Gallery of Modern Art. With the cone on the head, it has become an iconic image of Glasgow, wikipedia. I also wanted a photo of the Princes Square peacock, but even after morning coffee, the promised sunshine had not appeared.
We checked out before 12, then set off to find a nice place to get lunch. After considering our options, we found a nice wee café/bar and slowly made our way there. After lunch, the sun had made an appearance. So back to Buchanan St to get a photo of the Art Deco Peacock, Extra 1. At the top, I took a photo looking down Buchanan St, Extra 2.
The bus back to Edinburgh was a tad late, and as we travelled east, the sun slowly receded behind clouds. In Edinburgh it was very murky, a result of the haar blown in from the North Sea. Coffee time, so we go to a café for afternoon coffee. Then the bus home.
