DOA - Dead On Arrival

There has to be a better way of presenting dead bugs. I presume that mounting pins are sharper and thinner, I tried supergluing this bee to a dress makers pin without luck.

Have a HUGE look. This is, I believe, a male of the buff-tailed bumblebee. For identification I used the rear leg which shows a "true" bee covering of upper hair with minimal hair on the lower joints. This enables collection of pollen; the female has a much larger bare area of leg which tends to be shiny for attaching pollen. There are male and female "Cuckoo" bees which have hair all over their legs, they do not collect pollen.

Common bee ID.

The wee sod that had me yesterday may now be dust but I am still regretting it's sting!
