A day in the life

By Shelling

It's a long and dusty road

Gorgeous weather, at least for another couple of days.

Playing for a couple of hours in the morning seems to be a good start of the day, I never have the focus in my mind needed during the rest of the day.

It's been a while, a year actually, since I was here last, then accompanied by Ove, the cellist but now on my own. From the main road there is about two km to the water. The first km is by car, the rest by foot. This is typical Alvar-land (at the most, two cm of soil on top of a limestone-slab, which is what Öland consists of. There was no wind at all, which is unusual, so the walk was extremely peaceful. By the water I turned right for another 500 metres before catching another, smaller road back to the car. I had no sense of time so I don't know how long I was there, at least an hour I would think, the sun was on its way down. It's a very special landscape where it's easy to get lost in the grandness of the view and the minuteness of one self.

The whole island tilts slightly to the east and I think the extra gives a good view of that. The slab is naked at this beach so the effect is extra clear.
