World's end

Barmouth backblip 1

'Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness' wrote John Keats of Autumn. Not this morning though. Far too chilly to feel mellow, and more like thick fog than mist. Normally, beyond the trees we can see part of Huddersfield; now it looks as though the world ends at the house opposite. Huddersfield has disappeared into the murk. It did re-appear later in the day!

MrM and I considered our options for getting away on holiday - we should have left for Barmouth this morning. We considered going by train, which is possible but it would be a long and arduous journey today. It's Sunday, and due to 'line improvements' all the trains going west from Huddersfield are listed as 'rail replacement buses'.

With any luck, the work on the van should be completed by mid-afternoon tomorrow, so hopefully we'll leave then. Phoned the hotel to inform them that we'll be a day late...
