Honesty and Ivy
The white stocks are almost the last flowers to open in my late summer garden, but today, the Michaelmas daisies started to open. They are the very last of the summer flowers.
I found this honesty in the shady garden. It will soon shed its seeds and the white membranes will be left. I like the way if looks against the ivy hedge.
Another quiet day for me. Margret called and I showed her how to copy photos from Facebook. Her friend Ute has returned to Germany but would like a few photos from her time on holiday here.
I spent a frustrating hour or so trying to sort out my journey to Gairloch via Inverness in October. I thought that the train would be the best bet. Sadly there are no flights from Newcastle to Inverness.
I nearly booked the trains, but the timetable shows that delays are expected over both the weekends I will travel.
So, I see no alternative but to drive. I will drive to Inverness one day and on to Gairloch the next.
For the return journey and will need an overnight between Inverness and home. If anyone has good ideas about whey I might stay, thinking of autumn colours, I will be grateful.
If the trains run to time, it is still over 6 hours from here to Inverness....
