Pianola lesson
Mike spent the afternoon doing some woodwork repairs on S's pianola. A bit of improvisation was required, as Mike has no tools with him, but he succeeded and by the time S and I had come back from our jaunt, it was playable.
Simply put, you move a selector under the keyboard and it turns the keys off, two pedals fold out, you choose your tune, from a huge collection of perforated paper rolls, insert it into the pianola and the pump away with your feet, and it plays the tune.
S was thrilled to have it working properly again and Mike was thrilled to be able to have a shot playing it!
She and I had spent the afternoon at Teasses walled garden. It was very hot but there was a gentle breeze and it was lovely. It was beautiful, a wonderful surprise, some super ideas, huge greenhouses and some interesting trees too. S had been there many years ago before extensive improvements had been made to the garden, so it was new to her too. The gardener kindly offered us the chance to take away as many plums as we liked as they couldn't keep on top of them! They were warm and delicious!
A super day in so many ways
