White on grey
I haven't had a walk at all today. The sun's been out but so has the rain and somehow the push to put on my boots and go eluded me. So this was taken inbetween showers; a male large white feeding off one of the few star jasmine flowers left at the end of the garden. You can see the sunshine on its wings, while the grey background is obviously the next huge dump of wetness piling over.
Counting up the types of butterfly in my very small garden this year, it's not as many as in 2023, but we have still seen quantities of large and small whites, gatekeepers ditto, about 10 brimstones, a couple of red admirals, a peacock and a painted lady. Hopefully next year will be a better one for most species.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend and have a great start to the week xx
