I spotted this on the gate of a local primary school and it gave me reason to think:

First, "well it wasn't like that in my day" - we had high metal slides, roundabouts and an old steam engine (mind you, that was the public playground.

Then I thought about the audience for this notice - it's talking to children, as in "we", but the language is quite hard. So I guess it's aimed at reassuring parents.
