Flying...
A quick hummer shot this afternoon after we got home. Lighting was all wrong if you go by the usual rules for photographing birds, but in this instance I like it.
After the reception (which was such a wonderful celebration of Chris's life with friends from literally all over the world there) we checked into the hotel. Rested a bit, freshened up and went down to the lobby lounge where we spent the rest of the evening with Peg, her sister and brother-in-law, niece and nephew. Very low key and also very enjoyable. It was nearly 10 when we all headed to our rooms - I think Peg had completely run out of all reserves by that point. She's now off to Virginia for a few days to stay with her sister and BIL which will be great for her. I always feel that when we lose someone dear to us, the hard part comes after the funeral, when the rest of the world gets on with their lives and the spouse/parent/sibling/friend is left to grieve and figure out how to live our life without that person in it. I don't have any answers as to how to navigate through this, but I can say definitely that Peg will have all her friends there to support her throughout the journey.
Don't go to bed angry, don't ever miss an opportunity to tell someone you love them, to hug them tightly.
