Rieu Reunion

Today it’s the Reunion of our Rieu-weekend in July this year.
First we went to the cinema in Hoogezand to watch the movie of the concert.
I didn’t take long before we saw ourselves on the big screen, sitting in the audience on the Vrijthof.
We all enjoyed the concert, and of course the same emotional moments came by just as they did on the big square back then. Memories of my mom and dad enjoying his music, and when the orchestra started playing music that was also played at my fathers funeral I wished I could fastforward the movie a bit. But I couldn’t and that was fine. I knew it was coming and in a way it was nice to think back of it all.
After all, all these Rieu-things were doing are based on things we did with mom and dad years ago. A great tradition has grown from that. I’m grateful for that.

In the afternoon we all watched another Rieu movie, the one I made myself of our whole weekend in Maastricht. It was great to relive it all with the six of us. Hans and Anniek saw it for the first time of course and they were amazed about what I’d made of it.

We then went to lake Schildmeer, to have dinner together at Restaurant Kaap Steendam. We sat outside in a beautiful sunset, with delicious food. We all enjoyed it very much. Of course we made plans for next year.
As soon as the ticket sale opens, I’ll be trying to get tickets and a hotel again for the Vrijthof concert in July 2025!

Tickets for the Christmas concert on December 21st already are in the mail, so that’s one concert we can look forward to.

Around 21:15 we said goodbye to Hans and Anniek and went home. Adieu!!
