Monster Mushroom

I found this monster mushroom growing on a grass verge…I guess the damper weather recently has encouraged it to sprout.The cap was approximately 4 inches (10cm across).

It looks remarkably like one of the commercial ‘chestnut mushrooms’ from the supermarket … but not willing to take a chance and pick it!

House/contents insurance renewal arrived today …. a quote of 30% more than last year’s premium to over £400…sadly ‘The Meerkat’ didn’t offer much in the way of alternatives….
