County

This was the first playing of the Four Counties Champion of Champions match between Northumberland, Cumbria, County Durham and North Yorkshire ladies’ sections and our club was chosen to host it, a great privilege. Unfortunately it rained steadily for most of the day but a good time was had by all, we served dozens of bacon butties, cakes and coffees and teas and made a good amount for club funds. The closest rink should give encouragement to all club bowlers: there are some ‘loose woods’ (a distance from the jack (yellow ball)) and the score was quite one-sided. And this from some excellent players, some international standard.
