Lie in
Today isn’t supposed to be great on the weather front so I decided last night that I’d have a lie in and a book day.
It’s started well! I’m in bed, done my forehead tens machine (which I discovered before I left has some good indicators for preventing migraines (too early to tell for me but worth a try as I could do without them here)) and in that twenty minutes recorded the birdsong on the Cornell Merlin ID app. I’m in an area of trees that’s got a lot going on. I’m particularly trying to work out if there’s a green woodpecker about. I’ve heard what I think is one but haven’t been able to check it yet.
Anyway back to my cup of tea and a lovely catch-up with Dad on his birthday.
Must dash!
…
I leapt out of bed when I checked my bird app and it said it had heard a golden oriole! I’ve seen a flash of one once, many years ago, and have always loved the exotic name and striking look since spotting it in a guide book. I’ve been out for two walks and a supermarket trip with no sightings but I did find myself a couple of green woodpeckers flying through the trees.
For this afternoon’s walk, the sun came out (no rain in the end!) and there were more butterflies around plus a few wall lizards. I may decide to swap for a camera photo of the latter when I get back as I caught it fishing for an insect in a puddle and happily munching it. I’m trying to take as few camera photos as possible so it doesn’t seem a mammoth job when I get home, hence the phone blips. This pic is the high point on my walk after wandering through the trees between me and the chateau. The grapes look lush!
After doing the washing up, I had my supermarket walk. The wildlife didn’t stop there as a mosquito was quick to find my insect-repellent-free forefinger! I don’t seem to be swelling up like normal though so that’s a bonus!
Seem to have done more than a book day but I’m going to rectify that now with a book hour before bed.
