The Kings observatory -wow
Before we headed to the Kings Observatory we had a walk in Richmond Park and a pub lunch at The White Swan
The Kings Observatory is behind Richmond pool and accessed by walking through Royal Mid-Surrey Golf Club and avoiding being hit by a golf ball or two.
It is only open 4-6 weeks a year so we were lucky. It was originally built for Charles111 and Queen Charlotte to observe the Transit of Venus.
Only 10 people per tour as the room where the telescope is - the cupola- is small
We wore covers for our shoes and the rooms - living, library and office were lavishly decorated. Then we walked up to the cupola and roof where there were wonderful views.
Then up to London to see Hot Wing King. We left at interval. Too much shouting and too long.
