Boy meets guitar hero

My son, Vincent, has been inspired for many years by the great guitarist, Jason Becker. Becker was diagnosed with ALS right about the time he was joined the David Lee Roth band. Unfortunately, because of his illness, he has not become the household name that many other guitarists like Eddie Van Halen.

Becker was given three years to live but has now lived 24 years with ALS. Completely paralyzed, he is still composing music with the aid of computers and his friends.

Vincent recently performed his arrangement of one of Becker's tunes, River of Longing. . Jason heard Vincent's performance and he was invited to travel to San Francisco from Seattle to meet his idol.

Vincent said that Becker's personality and humor was there and his personality transcended his disability.

There is a moving documentary about Jason called, Jason Becker: Not Dead Yet.
