Surprise Blipmeet

Barmouth backblip 4

A great day out by train. First the mainline train along the coast from Barmouth to Tywyn, then a trip from Tywyn Wharf on the narrow-gauge Talyllyn Railway. The weather was kind, and there were some fabulous views from both trains.

We travelled to Nant Gwernol, the station at the end of the Talyllyn line, and from there enjoyed a walk through the woods and down to Abergynolwyn, the penultimate station on the line, where we went into the café for refreshment. A lovely surprise to find Blipper CrocusMan, Tony, behind the counter. He was able to take a break, and we sat in the sun and chatted over a cup of tea. After following Tony's journal for a while, it was very good to meet him in person. MrM took a photo of us standing together on one of the locos (a perfect illustration as to why I much prefer to be on the other side of the lens!).

Back to Tywyn Wharf station in the open carriage, and then a walk around the town while we waited for the mainline train back to Barmouth. Once in Barmouth, we sat by the beach and ate fish & chips before strolling around the harbour, watching the tide come in. The sky over the hills on the other side of the estuary was quite dramatic but suddenly the cloud lifted, and for the one and only time we were in Barmouth, we could see Cadair Idris.

A rare day of numerous Blip opportunities. Extras -
Sir Haydn, the loco pulling our train
Train leaving Nant Gwernol station
Start of the woodland walk
View from the open carriage
