Stock Still

A heron, standing stock still, way up in a dead ash. He reminds me of a guardsman on sentry duty, although what he could be guarding I'm not sure. Perhaps he was waiting for the sun to dip lower, so he might have more chance to catch fish in the evening light.

I'm noticing the sun setting considerably earlier. I shall have to adjust my timing for photo walks.
