Wearing purple...

Our village, nestling at the bottom of the hill...

...in the sunshine before the next rain squall came through...

The village is an ancient parish on a turnpike road, with the oldest buildings along that road, some dating from the 17th century.
The newer buildings are along Wellthorne Road, including our little estate.
At the 2001 Census, the parish had a population of 400, and it is now estimated to be about 600, courtesy of the new developments round the edges of the village.

The name means "birch enclosure by a meadow" ;)
