Autumn sunset

How long do you have to wait for a dental appointment?
 My friend, L, called this afternoon. 

 Yesterday she broke a tooth. So, she rung her NHS dentist and was told she could not get an appointment until the end of January 2025 even though it was an emergency.

 
In desperation she rung up all the private practises in the area and got fitted in this morning. She is fortunate. She was able to pay.
 
 But how many other older people in the same situation could?
