The lone rugby posts

This evening I went to a quiz hosted by a friend of mine for an upcoming trip to NASA. During a short break I popped outside and noticed a lone set of rugby posts. It is now six years since I played rugby but I'm sure there was always a set of posts at each end. Is this a sign of modern schooling and a way to ensure that no child loses or is scrap metal really worth that much now?!
