The harbour Porthleven

Today we drove to Porthleven for the morning and walked along the harbour to the front and along the pier.  We then bought Cornish pasties and coffee and sat by the harbour.  The Bickford-Institute and Town Hall is visible on the back left - always in the news when the powerful storms batter the coast. At the back on the wall is one of the two old canons guarding the outer harbour entrance.  There is also a memorial to Guy Gibson the commanding officer of the Dambusters on the wall of the Institute.  The fishing port is the most southerly in Britain and is where the passing sailing ships used to shelter from the storms. A really pleasant morning.

Extra photo: seafront.
