Commemoration
Whenever you visit villages in the UK you often see war memorials for WW1 or WW2 and New Abbey is typical in this respect, often there are two or three names from the same family. This small WW1 memorial is adjacent to Sweetheart Abbey but this is the first time I have really registered the plaque beside it. H.M. King George V Silver Jubilee 6th May 1935, and it now looks as if the plaque is growing out of the tree which was presumably planted next to it.
