Dippers and Swimmers

We visited the famous stepping stones of Dovedale today, our last day before the long drive home. We saw a pair of dippers in the water. Lovely and interesting to watch.

The swimmer? Well, that was Jak, of course. You have to cross the river via the stones if you wish to continue the path. On the way out, Mr K led him across the stones. It was a slow process and a bit precarious. On the way back, I crossed first then Mr K released Jak from his lead and I called him. The river is quite wide and we hadn't realised how deep it was in the middle. To my knowledge, Jak has never swum before and likes to keep his paws firmly on the the bottom. But he did it willingly and expertly though he looked a little startled. He seemed to entertain everyone around too.

Great ending to a rather hit and miss holiday due to the appalling weather. Today was lovely though, except on the drive back, when the the gathering storm clouds released a deluge which turned into a hailstone blizzard. Then the sun came back out. This never happens at home in Kent!
